Ian McFarlane is a writer and music journalist based in Australia. He has written numerous books on Australian music and has been a contributor to many publications such as Rolling Stone, The Australian, and The Sydney Morning Herald. McFarlane is best known for his book, "The Encyclopedia of Australian Rock and Pop," which is considered to be the definitive guide to Australian music. He has also been a radio presenter and interviewer on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation's national youth station, Triple J. McFarlane was inducted into the South Australian Music Hall of Fame in 2014.
